Why this is public
We set no cookies and no trackers. Since saying so is not enough, here is everything we measure, updated every 5 minutes: page views, visits, destinations viewed, languages, countries, traffic sources. Totals only, no personal data.
These numbers decide what we build next: which destinations to add, which languages to polish, what to fix. You write them, so you should be able to read them. And if you run a dive club, a hotel or a liveaboard, you do not have to take our word for it: you see exactly what we see, at the same moment, bad weeks included.
Yes, our numbers are still modest. That is exactly why we publish them now rather than later.
What we do not measure
No IP address kept. No visitor ID. No cookie. No advertising profile. No data resale. We do not know who you are and we are not trying to find out: that is why some boxes on this page stay empty. We prefer a missing statistic to a stolen piece of data.
How we measure
Page views. A counter goes up each time a page is displayed. No unique visitors, no reconstructed journeys: we cannot link two page views together. Bots are filtered out, and our own devices do not count.
Visits and duration. Your browser keeps two marks with no identifier: "been here before" and "visit in progress". It only tells us "first page of the visit" and "been here before", then the time spent on each page. We add up, nothing more.
Freshness. The numbers are recomputed every 5 minutes.
